Makara Elwood
Program Director
Makara Strom brings nearly a decade of experience in early childhood care and education from her previous role at Kids Care at Roberts Elementary School, where she developed lasting relationships with children and families. Her passion for nurturing young learners and supporting families makes her an excellent fit as Director of Legacy Early Learning Center. Excited to step into this new role, Makara looks forward to working with younger children and building connections with new families in the community. A resident of Woodville, WI, and one of 8 siblings, Makara is well-versed in the dynamics of a busy environment. She also recently celebrated her marriage to husband, Peter, in October of 2025.
Chelsy & Trent Schug
Owners
Chelsy is a highly experienced childcare professional with over 10 years of experience in the field. She has worked for private daycare served as a lead teacher, and most recently served as the program director of the St. Croix Central School District KidsCARE program. Her expertise dedication make her an excellent choice for any childcare needs.
With a wealth of experience in business management and a proven track record of success across various industries,Trent brings a unique perspective to early childhood education. As the co-founder of Legacy Early Learning Center,Trent leverages a background in digital marketing, website design, and restaurant management to create an exceptional learning environment that emphasizes high standards, community engagement, and growth for both students and staff.
Lisa Wilcox
Lead Teacher & Assistant Director
With over 25 years in the child care field, Lisa Wilcox brings extensive experience, dedication, and a nurturing approach to her role as Assistant Director and Lead Teacher at Legacy Early Learning Center. Previously with SCC’s child care program for nearly nine years, Lisa has a deep commitment to fostering supportive and enriching environments for children. She is passionate about building strong relationships with both students and their families, ensuring each child feels safe, valued, and inspired to grow. Lisa lives in New Richmond with her husband, their three adult children, and two energetic Labrador Retrievers. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and staying active in the outdoors.
